Themes
When it comes to learning about how wealth is created and humans have advanced over time, the case is pretty clear. It has been through collaboration, exchange and contracts. Peaceful voluntary interactions. The Jungle Gang series teaches children (and parents) how to think about the realtionship between individuals and groups of people in the framework of a freedom and liberty. Where there are few rules aside from not aggressing against someone else's property or person. The incentive is strong for using reason and logic vs violence (or government) to solve problems and improve life.
The main theme is collaboration and exchanging services. The building block of human interaction is the fact that there is scarcity in time and resources. However, through collaboration (or trading services) one's own interest can be better met as well as the person you trade with. Precisely, because it is a voluntary decision and not coerced.
The main theme is specialization. The kids learn that they are not equally good at the same things and to focus on their area of specialty as a means of better accomplishing a goal (finding food).
Book 3 - The Roads
The main theme is the roads. Often the novice thinker will ponder how roads would ever be made or kept up with without the government managing this aspect of life. This story shows how there can be incentives for roads to be built and how this can further wealth creation and trade.
Book 4 - Currency
One wants eggs, one wants fish, one doesn't want either and someone else has a different time preference and desire altogether. How can we exchange when there are so many different wants and needs - a currency, an indirect method of trade.
Book 5 - What is property
The theme in this story is property (land). How precisly to determine who owns an area or can claim to own an area. How do we know this is yours? What could be ways to define this ownership?
Many more to come!
